Growing energy awareness and the need to reduce reliance on external electricity suppliers are driving increased interest in energy storage systems. These solutions enable the efficient use of renewable energy, improve self-consumption, and provide backup power during outages. As energy challenges mount, users are seeking solutions that enhance energy independence, increase system stability, and support the effective use of renewable sources in homes and businesses.

Applications of Energy Storage Systems

Energy storage systems are designed to store surplus energy generated, for example, by a photovoltaic installation, for later use. This significantly enhances energy autonomy in both residential and commercial buildings, reducing electricity bills and ensuring power supply in the event of a grid failure. For instance, a single-family home with a 5 kW energy demand can be powered for approximately 2 hours by an energy storage system with a 10 kWh capacity and 5 kW output power.

Energy Storage Technology

Modern energy storage systems use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells, known for their long lifespan, safety, and operational stability. A crucial component is the BMS (Battery Management System), which monitors voltage, temperature, and current. Key parameters such as Depth of Discharge (DoD), charge/discharge power, number of cycles, and protection level (IP rating) determine the system’s performance and durability.

Huawei Smart Energy Storage – LUNA2000 Series

The Huawei LUNA2000-5-E0 is a compact, modular energy storage system with a 2.5 kW output and 5 kWh usable capacity, making it ideal for residential users. It offers 100% DoD and a peak power of 3.5 kW. Its compact design, IP65 ingress protection, and passive cooling system make it suitable for various installation environments. The system is scalable – up to three battery modules can be connected to achieve a maximum of 5 kW power and 15 kWh usable capacity. This makes the LUNA2000 a perfect fit for modern home installations, particularly where flexible expansion is key.

The Huawei LUNA2000-7-E1 battery module addresses the needs of users with higher energy demands. A system can include up to three battery modules, each with a nominal capacity of 6.9 kWh, plus one control module, enabling a total capacity of up to 20.7 kWh and power output of up to 10.5 kW. It supports a wide voltage range (350-980 V), operates in parallel configurations, and features advanced safety protections and resistance to environmental conditions.

Sungrow High-Voltage Storage – Flexible SBR Modules

The Sungrow SBR096-256 system offers high flexibility to match actual user needs. It comprises 3.2 kWh modules, with a minimum of three required, allowing configurations ranging from 9.6 to 25.6 kWh. The SBR096-256 delivers 100% usable energy, high discharge power (up to 17.52 kW), and IP55 protection. Its design makes it suitable for both residential and small commercial applications. Up to four units can be connected in parallel, expanding the system to 100 kWh. With a Plug & Play design and no need for cabling between modules, installation is quick and easy – even for a single person – and the compact form simplifies servicing. The LiFePO4 battery ensures long life and safe operation.

Deye Versatile Energy Storage – Home and Business Solutions

The Deye RW-M6.1-B is a robust energy storage unit with a usable capacity of 5.53 kWh per module, scalable up to 196 kWh. Its weather-resistant IP65 housing, flexible installation options, and parallel operation of up to 32 units make it an excellent choice for both residential and small commercial uses.

The Deye SE-G5.1 Pro-B is ideal for users with limited installation space. It offers 4.6 kWh of usable capacity and is expandable up to 327 kWh. It supports standard rack, wall, or floor mounting while ensuring high performance and reliability. Its flexible scalability and various installation methods allow it to be tailored to the needs of individual users and small businesses.

The Deye BOS-G high-voltage system is built from 5.12 kWh modules and can reach a total capacity of 61.44 kWh. It supports voltage up to 614.4 V and offers more than 6000 charge cycles. Rack mounting and passive cooling make it a dependable solution for larger residential systems and commercial applications.

Energy Storage – A Smart Investment in Independence

Choosing the right solution – from compact 5 kW energy storage systems to advanced high-voltage setups – depends on energy needs, available space, and the type of PV installation. Huawei, Sungrow, and Deye offer a wide range of options, from advanced safety features to easy installation and flexible scalability. Energy storage is an investment that enhances energy independence, security, and the efficient use of renewable energy. In the long term, a well-selected storage system contributes to tangible savings and power supply stability.
